MYP @LMBMS: Academics
In the Middle Years, the IB provides a framework in which teachers weave the requirements of IB with their own local and state requirements.
LMBMS students take courses from eight required subject groups for the MYP. Required IB subject groups are Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Mathematics, the Arts, Sciences, Physical and Health Education, and Language Acquisition. Design is embedded within coursework for Sciences at LMBMS. Courses are designed to meet all local requirements as students prepare for SOL testing accountability. IB units emphasize inquiry-based learning, development of strong conceptual understanding within the subject group, development of Approaches to Learning skills, and assessment in age-appropriate but challenging mearures.
