Upcoming: Big Global Issue Date

Here is an opportunity for you to make progress toward one or two specific LEARNING OUTCOMES:

• Engage with issues of global significance

• Initiate and plan one or more CAS experiences

Human Rights Day is celebrated each year on December 10. Could you devise some CAS related to human rights that you could carry out on or around that date? Feel free to collaborate with a friend to get some ideas rolling, or here are a few:

1. Remember that one of the types of SERVICE is Advocacy. Is there an issue related to human rights that you are passionate about or that you would want to learn more about? Is there some type of advocacy work that you could do related to that issue? How would you make your voice heard? Through letter writing, vlogging, or a zine? There could be a crossover to creativity here....

2. Could you engage your friends or a larger student group around a CREATIVITY project? Perhaps you could organize a collaborative research and art project through 2nd period circles that week to discover which human rights issues really fire up the student body at TJHS.

Sound interesting, but maybe you are having a hard time meeting the December 10 date? No worries! Human Rights are important all year long. These are just some ideas. Use your powers of inquiry and find something that works for you.
