The Capital Rugby Union will host the 2023 Atlantic Super Regional (ASR) on April 29-30, 2023. The location is at Dorey Park in Henrico County. The James River Rugby men’s team, which is also a non-profit and we can provide the necessary documentation, is located in Richmond, VA and are taking on a lot of the planning for this event. They are in need of volunteers to help the event run as smoothly as possible. There will be other volunteers needed, but as of now, they will definitely need the following:
Ball Shaggers: a minimum of two on the Main Pitch, ideally two on every pitch, at 9 am -conclusion of the last match. Responsible for placing the ball at mid-field after tries, retrieving balls kicked for conversions, and placing balls kicked for conversions, and placing balls at the Touch Judges’ feet/direction when a ball is deemed out of bounds. Work as a team, one on each sideline. (There are 4 fields in which play will occur, so a minimum of 8 is needed at any given time)
Broadcast Camera operator assistants: two per field, 9 am – conclusion of the last match. Responsible for managing any cables to ensure no one trips over the cable and protecting the camera operator as they focus on the matches. (There are 4 fields in which play will occur, so a minimum of 8 is needed at any given time)
Training will be provided! Also, all volunteers will be fed throughout the day and water/Gatorade/etc. will be provided as well. If you have questions, you can stop and see Ms. Golt in 109 or contact Jay Yates: johnwayneyates@gmail.com.
