I received a really exciting email this morning: IB has created a fund to award grants to students for social entrepreneurship projects related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (listed in the image above).
So... do you have an idea for a project that will make an impact right here where we live? Is there something you have dreamed of doing for your CAS project or for community service that would be great for our neighborhoods but that you just didn't know where you could get the funding? Maybe you feel like you would need to learn more to carry out your project effectively?
Here is what the IB Global Youth Action Fund offers:
Up to $3,000 USD in grant funding, depending on the needs of your project
An 8-week online training in Social Entrepreneurship
Mentorship and connection with leaders in social entrepreneurship and with other students who have been awarded grants.
Projects that are submitted will be evaluated as to how well they fulfil the following criteria:
Impact: Will the project have a clear and positive impact on one of the Sustainable Development Goals? Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate the most impact.
Stage of project: What stage of development is the project in? Is it an idea, is it underway, or is it something you have been implementing that you would like to grow in scale? Preference will be given to projects that have undergone some development and that have the possibility of growing in scale.
Collaboration: Does the project involve collaboration with other young people? Preference will be given to projects that involve collaboration with other teens whenever possible.
School Support: Applications require one teacher recommendation form. Preference will be given to projects with a strong recommendation that shows school support for the project and the teacher's confidence in the students who will participate.
Applications open on May 9, 2023 and must be submitted no later than June 20, 2023. Learn more on the IB Website.
