Celebrate MLK with Meaningful CAS!

Plan now to participate in a service opportunity on MLK Day, or to commemorate it through Creativity or Activity! There are several opportunities around town, or devise one of your own!

Hands On RVA has a number of ideas happening around town. Remember that for your experience to be CAS, it needs to fall into one of the CAS Strands: Creativity, Activity, or Service, so while all of these ideas are great commemorations of what Dr. King means to our community, not all of them will work for CAS. If you have questions, please see your CAS Advisor or Ms. Johnston.

Featured ideas that would definitely work:

  • Making digital documents accessible with Library of Virginia

  • Removing invasive plants from Ancarrow's Landing with the James River Park System (note that you need to be 18 to participate)

  • Removing invasive plants from Buttermilk Trail with the James River Park System (you need to be 16+)

  • Community Meal Packing with Rise Against Hunger (note that if you are under 18, you will need to participate with a parent or guardian)
